My answer to Do parents use video games to teach their kids math?
Answer by Thomas Zerbarini:
We've used a few online websites that use games to reinforce math skills. The kids love to play the games and they're learning as they do it. The games were just a small piece to big learning picture. We still stuck to the basics as well, just supplemented with occasional games to mix it up a bit and make it more fun.
Also, I have found that playing an instrument increases cognitive function and helps with critical thinking and math skills. Check out this article:
To introduce my kids to playing music, we would play Rock Band on the Wii. They loved to sing and play the drums, guitar and keyboard. It was a family activity that blossomed into somewhat of a weekly tradition on the weekends.
We love music and playing games together, even video games sometimes in moderation. I think the most important part was that we spent time together learning and playing.
