Why do airports use use local time zone instead of UTC?

Answer by Thomas Zerbarini:

I assume you are referring to the local time being used in the terminals of most major airports. They do this to keep it simple and useful for the general public.

Pilots and Air Traffic Control use UTC time. The flight plans, weather reports, clearances are all used using UTC. Even charts and approach plates reference time zone information in UTC.
